President Donald Trump’s latest financial disclosure dropped like a bombshell Tuesday, revealing the commander-in-chief has pulled in over $580 million from cryptocurrency ventures since retaking the Oval Office. The 927-page report, filed with the Office of Government Ethics, shows Trump personally holds between $1 million and $5 million in Bitcoin alone, alongside hundreds of individual stock positions.
The bulk of Trump’s crypto windfall came from World Liberty Financial, the Trump-linked digital currency firm co-founded by members of his family. According to the disclosure, Trump pocketed roughly $515 million from token sales and another $65 million from equity stakes in WLF’s holding company. Not bad for a guy who once called Bitcoin a scam.
But here’s where it gets interesting. While the president is raking in crypto cash, Vice President JD Vance is quietly stacking sats too. Vance’s much slimmer 17-page disclosure reveals Bitcoin holdings valued between $250,000 and $500,000, alongside earnings from his venture capital firm Narya Capital and the Rise of the Rest Seed Fund.
The disclosure also sheds light on the first family’s broader financial picture. Melania Trump reported $10.7 million from her documentary film “Melania,” plus another $6 million from NFT sales and collectibles licensing. The president himself received over $370,000 in gifts, including Super Bowl tickets from Saints owner Gayle Benson, UFC event passes from Dana White, and a $250,000 statue depicting Trump’s defiant fist-pump moment after the Butler assassination attempt.
What does it mean when the leader of the free world is this deeply invested in digital assets? For one, it explains the administration’s increasingly crypto-friendly regulatory posture. For another, it raises questions about conflicts of interest when policy decisions can move markets that directly benefit the first family.
The Trump family’s crypto playbook has been remarkably profitable for them, even if everyday investors in some of these ventures haven’t fared as well. When the president talks about making America the crypto capital of the world, just remember whose wallet stands to benefit most.
