President Trump just delivered a massive win for border security and law enforcement, signing the Secure America Act into law and locking in funding for ICE and Border Patrol through the end of his term. After more than 100 days of Democrats holding homeland security hostage, trying to force open-border policies in exchange for keeping the lights on at DHS, the president finally broke their blockade and got the job done.
The numbers tell the story: $38 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, $26 billion for Customs and Border Protection. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who has been running the department since March without proper funding thanks to Democratic obstruction, called the bill a major victory for the Trump administration and the American people. He highlighted something that should shame every Democrat who played these games: ICE and CBP agents have been showing up to work every single day, protecting our communities and our borders, even though some haven’t been paid since February. These are patriots who put duty above paychecks while politicians in Washington treated their livelihoods like bargaining chips.
What makes this victory even sweeter is that it removes the Democrats’ favorite leverage point for the rest of Trump’s presidency. No more shutdown threats over immigration enforcement. No more holding border security hostage to force through amnesty or catch-and-release policies. The funding is locked in through 2029, meaning the professionals at ICE and CBP can do their jobs without worrying that Congress will pull the rug out from under them next budget cycle.
This is what winning looks like. While the media obsesses over palace intrigue and manufactured scandals, Trump and the Republican Congress are actually governing—securing the border, backing law enforcement, and delivering on the promises that got them elected. The Secure America Act isn’t just a spending bill; it’s a statement of priorities. And for once, those priorities put American citizens first.
