Joe Biden took the stage at a Maryland Democrat fundraiser this week and did what he does best—slurred his way through an attack on President Trump, this time mocking him for renovating the Lincoln Reflecting Pool. The 83-year-old former president, appearing at the party’s “Fight Back & Win Summit and Gala,” called the pool project “vanity” and sneered that it “reflects something even worse than the narcissism and incompetence at the core of this administration.” He even threw in a “what a loser” for good measure, because apparently that’s the level of discourse the left considers presidential material these days.
But comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla wasn’t having it. On his show, Carolla dismantled Biden’s symbolic grandstanding with the kind of blunt truth that has made him a voice for Americans tired of political theater. “Everything for Democrats is symbolic,” Carolla observed. “It’s all symbolic. Yeah, it’s all like, ‘It’s cruel, he’s mean, he’s doing a thing.’ It doesn’t make any difference. The reflecting pool doesn’t have any actual impact on anybody ever.” And then he got to the heart of the matter—the real legacy Biden should be answering for. “So start focusing… you old man… you let in 15 million people into this country and we have no idea who they are and some are terrorists, others are rapists and killers. That’s impactful. The reflecting pool doesn’t make a difference to anybody. No one. You understand?”
Carolla’s point cuts through the noise like a knife. While Biden and his Hollywood allies—he name-dropped Bette Midler and Jane Fonda specifically—want to posture and preen about symbolic gestures, the actual work of governance gets ignored. “It’s all this, but in a weird way, it’s all about being mean or cruel stuff. These are all just words,” Carolla continued. “It’s all just, and by the way, you’re gonna stand up and fight and Bette Midler, you’re gonna haul your saggy 81-year-old ass out to the gate to meet him there with Jane Fonda, who’s 140 years old, and you’re gonna fight him at the gate? It’s all symbolism. It’s all talk. By the way, that’s why they love Hollywood. They love all the talk. They don’t actually love the work. The work is building shit.”
There’s a deeper truth here that resonates with anyone paying attention to the spiritual condition of our nation. The left has mastered the art of appearances—clean reflecting pools, rainbow flags, virtue-signaling hashtags—while the foundations crumble beneath us. They want to polish the surface while the rot spreads underneath. It’s a form of civic hypocrisy that would make the Pharisees blush. Jesus warned about those who “clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.” The parallel is hard to miss. Biden wants to critique Trump’s pool maintenance while ignoring the invasion he facilitated at our southern border, the fentanyl deaths, the human trafficking, the known terrorists who’ve slipped through.
Carolla gets what so many in the conservative movement have been saying for years: we don’t need more talk. We don’t need more Hollywood celebrities lecturing us from their gated compounds. We need the actual work of rebuilding—border walls, not reflecting pools; deportations, not diversity seminars; law and order, not lawfare. The comedian’s frustration mirrors that of millions of Americans who watched Biden’s administration systematically dismantle border security, only to have the same man now critique aesthetic renovations to a Washington landmark.
The contrast couldn’t be starker. Trump builds. Biden bloviates. And the American people are left cleaning up the mess.
