Remember when the left told us that fighting back against the gender madness in our schools was a losing battle? That DEI was too entrenched to dismantle? Well, according to the Trump administration’s fact sheet released by the Department of Education, those defeatist narratives are being put to rest once and for all. In just over a year, the Department of Education under Secretary Linda McMahon has racked up win after win that would have seemed impossible during the Biden years.
Let’s start with the University of Pennsylvania, ground zero for the Lia Thomas controversy that woke millions of Americans up to what was happening in women’s sports. According to the fact sheet, UPenn has now agreed to restore female swimmers’ records and titles that were stolen by a biological male, issue public compliance statements affirming biology-based definitions of male and female, and send personalized apology letters to the women who were forced to compete against Thomas. Riley Gaines, the brave swimmer who stood up when it cost her everything to do so, called it a ‘historic display’ of the administration’s promise being fulfilled, as reported in her public statements. How many young women had their dreams crushed before someone in power finally said enough?
But the wins don’t stop there. The Education Department found California’s Department of Education in ‘continued violation’ of federal law for helping schools hide students’ gender transitions from their own parents, as detailed in the fact sheet. Think about that for a moment. The Supreme Court recently sided with parents challenging these policies, noting that they ‘likely violate parents’ rights to direct the upbringing and education of their children,’ according to the court’s ruling.
Colorado’s Jefferson County Public Schools got the same treatment after the department found they were allowing males into girls’ bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight accommodations, per the fact sheet. The district has now committed to rescinding those policies and posting public statements affirming Title IX compliance using biology-based definitions. According to the fact sheet, over 300 colleges and universities have rooted out DEI programs entirely, 45 have removed DEI statements from their websites, and at least 95 have eliminated or restructured DEI staff positions. The College Board even revised its National Recognition Program criteria that had been awarding scholarships based on race rather than merit, as noted in the fact sheet.
Perhaps most significantly, the NCAA finally updated its transgender participation policy in February to restrict women’s sports to athletes assigned female at birth, according to the fact sheet. And the fact sheet notes that ‘dozens’ of colleges, including several Ivy League institutions, have reinstated SAT and ACT requirements after years of so-called ‘test-optional’ admissions that served as a backdoor for racial preferences. The administration’s message is clear: the era of institutionalized discrimination in the name of diversity is coming to an end, and they’re just getting started.
Providence watches over the bold.
