While Democrats posture and grandstand in Washington, President Trump is taking decisive action to protect American travelers. Starting Monday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will deploy to airports nationwide to assist overwhelmed TSA agents who have been working without pay for over a month. And according to reports from the Department of Homeland Security, this move addresses the staffing crisis amid the ongoing shutdown.
The move comes as Democrats continue holding homeland security funding hostage, demanding immigration reforms while TSA officers—considered essential employees who must report to work regardless of shutdowns—have gone more than thirty days without paychecks. Over four hundred TSA employees have already quit their jobs as airports across the country report massive callouts and staffing shortages. But Trump announced the deployment on Truth Social, stating that ICE will help “our wonderful TSA Agents who have stayed on the job despite the fact that the Radical Left Democrats, who are only focused on protecting hard line criminals who have entered our Country illegally, are endangering the USA by holding back the money that was long ago agreed to with signed and sealed contracts.”
Border Czar Tom Homan will oversee the operation, with Trump expressing confidence that the ICE agents will do a “fantastic job” despite what he predicts will be inevitable criticism from Democratic leadership. The president had initially threatened the deployment on Saturday, demanding Democrats “immediately sign an agreement” to fund the Department of Homeland Security. When that deadline passed without action, Trump followed through on his promise, as detailed in his Truth Social posts.
Is this the leadership Americans deserve while Democrats play political games with their safety? The contrast could not be clearer: one party working to secure the homeland, the other willing to let airport security deteriorate to protect their open-border agenda.
Providence watches over the bold.
