Illinois Governor JB Pritzker just showed the country exactly what the Democratic playbook looks like when they think nobody’s paying attention—pure, unadulterated political retribution dressed up as “restoring the rule of law.” In a stunning admission during a New York Times interview, Pritzker laid out his vision for a post-Trump America, and it sounds less like governance and more like a purge.
When asked about his “project 2029 agenda,” Pritzker didn’t mince words. He wants Trump administration officials and federal agents prosecuted—criminally if possible, civilly if that’s what it takes. According to the New York Times interview, Pritzker declared, “The people in this administration who’ve broken the law and federal agents who’ve broken the law need to be held accountable,” making it crystal clear that “accountable” means dragging his political enemies through the courts. When pressed on whether he meant criminal prosecution, Pritzker doubled down: “criminally prosecuted, civilly prosecuted, whatever it is that we can do.”
This isn’t some fringe activist or Twitter troll calling for heads to roll—this is the sitting governor of a major state, running for reelection, openly promising to weaponize the justice system against his opponents. And he’s not even trying to hide it behind vague platitudes anymore. Republican Representative Mary Miller saw exactly what was happening and called it out on X: “JB Pritzker and the Democrats are openly laying the groundwork for political retribution against their opponents. We already saw it under Joe Biden.” According to Miller, this includes instances like the Biden administration’s actions, such as raids on pro-life activists and targeting parents at school board meetings.
Former Breitbart News Senior Editor Joel Pollak took it a step further, calling Pritzker’s threat “a call for civil war.” When one side of the political aisle starts openly talking about prosecuting the other side’s officials “whatever it is that we can do,” they’ve crossed a line that should terrify every American who values the peaceful transfer of power. This isn’t politics as usual—this is the kind of rhetoric that turns democracies into banana republics. What’s particularly rich about Pritzker’s sanctimonious posturing is his reference to “restoring the rule of law.”
This from a governor who presides over Chicago, a city where the rule of law has become something of a punchline. While he’s dreaming up ways to prosecute federal agents who enforced immigration laws, his own state is bleeding residents and businesses thanks to the very policies he champions. But sure, Governor—tell us more about law and order. The reference to “Project 2029” is also telling, as Pritzker tries to create a boogeyman to match the left’s hysteria over Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s policy framework that Democrats turned into a misinformation campaign.
Here’s the reality that Pritzker and his ilk don’t want to admit: the American people rejected their vision in 2024. They rejected the open borders, the soft-on-crime policies, the endless investigations and political witch hunts. And instead of learning from that rejection, Democrats like Pritzker are doubling down on the very tactics that got them booted from power. The question every voter needs to ask themselves is simple: do you want to live in a country where winning an election means you get to prosecute your opponents?
