Two Islamic terror attacks struck American soil on Thursday — a synagogue in Michigan and a university classroom in Virginia — and before the smoke had cleared, the legacy media had already found its villain. It wasn’t the jihadist who rammed a truck loaded with weapons into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township. It wasn’t the convicted ISIS supporter who walked into an Old Dominion University classroom, asked if it was an ROTC class, then opened fire while screaming “Allahu Akbar.” No, according to the brilliant minds at MSNOW and the rest of the corporate press, the real threat to American safety is Donald Trump.
Let that sink in for a moment. Two coordinated-style attacks in a single day, both carried out by individuals with clear ties to radical Islam, and the knee-jerk response from the left-wing media apparatus is to point the finger at the sitting President. MSNOW’s Alex Wagner wondered aloud whether the White House “actually has the interest in keeping Americans safe,” as though the administration somehow conjured these terrorists into existence. Nicolle Wallace piled on with the same tired playbook. Anything — literally anything — to avoid naming the ideology that motivated these monsters.
The facts are not complicated. In Norfolk, Virginia, 36-year-old Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Army National Guardsman who was arrested in 2016 and convicted in 2017 for attempting to provide material support to ISIS, walked into a classroom and murdered an instructor. He had served 11 years and was apparently free to roam American streets. FBI Director Kash Patel called it what it was — an act of terrorism. The ROTC students in that classroom did what warriors do: they subdued the attacker and, in the FBI’s clinical phrasing, “rendered him no longer alive.” God bless those young men and women.
Hours later in Michigan, 41-year-old Ayman Mohamad Ghazali — a Lebanese national who entered the United States in 2011 and was naturalized during the Obama administration in 2016 — drove a vehicle into Temple Israel, armed with a rifle, and opened fire on a Jewish house of worship that included a preschool. Armed security guards engaged the attacker, and he was found dead in his burning vehicle. Zero innocent casualties, thanks entirely to the good guys with guns that Democrats want to disarm.
And what were Senate Democrats doing while jihadists attacked the homeland? Blocking DHS funding for the fourth time since February. The vote failed 51-46, with only John Fetterman having the decency to cross the aisle. Democrats have held the Department of Homeland Security hostage for 27 days now, crippling the TSA and hamstringing the very agencies tasked with preventing exactly this kind of carnage — all because the bill includes funding for ICE and Border Patrol. They would rather leave America vulnerable than let immigration enforcement do its job.
So we have radical Islamists attacking synagogues and universities on American soil, a convicted ISIS terrorist who was somehow back on the streets, Democrats defunding homeland security during an active war with Iran, and the media’s grand conclusion is that Trump is the problem. Is there any scenario in which these people would simply name the enemy? The answer, of course, is no — because naming the enemy would require them to reckon with decades of failed immigration policy, lax vetting, and the open-borders ideology they championed. It would require acknowledging that the Obama-era naturalization of a man who would later attack a synagogue represents a systemic failure, not a success story. The media won’t do that, because the media isn’t in the truth business anymore. They’re in the narrative business, and the narrative demands that every tragedy serve as a weapon against the America First movement. Thursday’s attacks should have unified the country in righteous anger against the jihadist threat. Instead, they became just another opportunity for the press to run interference for the ideology that wants us dead.
Providence watches over the bold.
