Senator Ted Cruz isn’t holding back when it comes to President Trump’s military campaign against Iran, declaring that the decision to launch strikes represents “the most consequential decision” of Trump’s entire presidency. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, the Texas conservative made it crystal clear where he stands: America is winning, and Trump is demonstrating the kind of leadership that has been sorely missing on the world stage for decades.
“If you look at how our military has carried out this action, it has been an incredible success,” Cruz emphasized, pointing to the devastating impact American forces have inflicted on the Iranian regime. The numbers tell a story of military dominance that would make any patriot proud: over 9,000 military strikes executed, 140 Iranian ships sent to the bottom of the Persian Gulf—the largest naval sinking since World War II—and the elimination of the Ayatollah along with virtually the entire top tier of Iran’s military leadership.
Cruz revealed that he spent the entire day with Trump on the eve of the strikes, riding in the presidential limousine—“the Beast”—as they discussed whether to launch military action or pursue further negotiations. “What I told him at the time is, I said, I don’t think there’s anything to negotiate,” Cruz recounted. “The Ayatollah is negotiating in bad faith and the regime was weaker than it ever has been.” The senator’s advice proved prescient. Rather than continuing the endless cycle of diplomatic games that has defined America’s relationship with Iran for 47 years, Trump chose decisive action.
The results speak for themselves. As Cruz detailed, American forces have systematically dismantled Iran’s military capabilities: “We’ve taken out virtually the entirety of their air defenses. We have taken out their short range and medium range ballistic missile launchers, their missiles, and their missile manufacturing capacity. Have taken out their drone launchers, their drones and their drone manufacturing capacity.” This is what American military power looks like when it’s unleashed rather than constrained by bureaucratic cowardice.
Cruz didn’t mince words about the threat Iran has posed to American interests. “The Ayatollah and the mullahs in Iran have been waging war against the United States for 47 years,” he stated. “Iran has been the number one state funder of terrorism in the world.” For nearly half a century, American presidents have talked tough while Iranian-backed terrorists killed American soldiers, seized American hostages, and plotted attacks on American soil. Trump is the first president with the courage to treat Iran like the enemy it has always been.
Predictably, the polls show a partisan divide, with Democrats reflexively opposing anything Trump does regardless of the merits. But Cruz isn’t buying the narrative that Americans are turning against the operation. “The president decimating this regime has made America substantially safer, and that is his responsibility as commander in chief,” he stressed. Safety isn’t measured by approval ratings or focus groups—it’s measured by dead terrorists and destroyed weapons programs.
The senator’s assessment cuts through the media noise and political posturing to reveal a fundamental truth: when America leads with strength, the world becomes safer for freedom-loving people everywhere. While the left wrings its hands and the isolationists in Trump’s own party clutch their pearls, real leadership is being demonstrated in the skies over Iran. Cruz recognizes it. The American people who elected Trump to shake up the status quo recognize it. And history will recognize it too.
This is what making America great again actually looks like.
